First prize in the Lifestyle Competition Prize Draw: Vado 3 bike by SPECIALISED

To make long distance biking more manageable, go electric!

Over the past 12 months we’ve seen a cycling revival  here in the UK. Many people have dusted off their old bikes or have been out to buy a new one as they (re)discover their love of cycling, and the freedom that comes with wheezing along with the wind in your hair!  Less traffic on the roads has also been a blessing to cyclists, and given us a taste of how car-free areas could feel.

The latest news is that electric bikes are becoming the commuters’ choice, as they allow you to get to work feeling fresh and ready for the day.  The sales of e-bikes have boomed during the pandemic. The World Economic Forum predicts that in Europe twice as many e-bikes as cars will be bought by 2030 (https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2021/03/electric-bicycles-sales-growth/).

Some of the busiest people during the pandemic have been those working in bike shops across the country, helping us to fix up bikes that have been rusting in garden sheds or advising us on a new bike that would best suit our particular needs and get us out and about.

One such place is The Bike Shed. With shops in Crediton, Exeter and Barnstaple, their superb team offers an excellent range of knowledge regarding all kinds of cycling and they also help with maintenance of your bicycle in their fully equipped workshops.  The Barnstaple store is situated in the heart of town and on the doorstep of the Tarka Trail and Exmoor, giving you the perfect opportunity to get out and about on a car-free cycle path.

Carbon Savvy and The Bike Shed have come together to offer one lucky winner the opportunity to take home a Specialized Vado 3 electric bike (see picture). For more information about how to enter go to our competition page.

Curious about e-bikes? Why not give one a test ride?
