Bigbury Net Zero has the ambition to identify and promote locally produced food and a system of linking consumers to suppliers which does not have a large transport burden. Most rural communities have very poor public transport so it may have to be a box scheme with drop off points or linked to a car pool scheme. Does anyone have any experience with this and suggestions they could share with us?
Over the next 12 months we will begin to develop a Net Zero Directory, supported by the local parish magazine printing facility – which will then be distributed as an ‘extra’ with the parish magazine once per year. It will include wide range of topics – including awareness of the climate change issues surrounding food and local suppliers of food products. We are going to ask our local village shop if they will put the BNZ logo near foods that were made locally.
